Preliminary Client Consultation
- This is an initial face-to-face meeting with the client to discuss the firm's retained executive search consulting process, guarantees, deliverables, probable time line, and to clarify expectations.
- Outcome: Agreement to proceed with the engagement.
- Deliverables: Schedule a follow-up meeting with the client to determine and specify client expectations, position & candidate specifications, and components of the employment offer.
Preliminary Exploratory & Fact Finding Meeting
- This is a major face-to-face meeting with the client, usually about 2 hours to define the scope and outcomes of the search engagement. The purpose is to clarify client expectations and determine possible sources for qualified candidates. The company: history, markets, products, geographic locations, financials, business strategy, operational issues, culture and concerns & expectations of stakeholders (employees, officers, directors, financial community, etc.). The position: basic responsibilities, title, reporting relationship, base & incentive compensation, benefit programs, subordinate talent, peer relationships, history of the position, key outcomes & operational imperatives, potential for growth/promotion, and the "definition of success in the position during the first 12 months. The qualified candidate: competencies, experience, education, industry association, position in which a candidate is currently performing, and other requisites necessary to satisfy the performance criteria.
- Outcome: Development of detailed information required to prepare preliminary engagement documentation.
- Deliverables: The client will receive the following preliminary engagement documentation deliverables within 12 working days - at the latest.
- Engagement Confirmation Letter: The letter of agreement between the Client and the firm outlining the following: the scope of the talent sourcing engagement; a brief description of the client organization, function, values and culture; the qualified candidate experience, credentials, skills and accomplishments specifications; the search methodology, and the engagement financial arrangements. Note: the client will receive two copies of the Confirmation Letter signed by a principal of the Firm. One copy is for client records. The second copy will be signed, dated, and returned to the Firm. The intensive sourcing process and timing of subsequent deliverables begins on the date the Confirmation Letter is signed by the Client. A non-refundable retainer equal to one-third of the total professional fee is due upon signing of the Confirmation Letter.
- Engagement Guarantee: The Firm will provide the Client with a written statement of two specific guarantees which accompanies the Engagement Confirmation Letter. B. Brownson & Associates, L. P. is uniquely differentiated from other leading, retained executive search consulting firms because of these two quality guarantees. The 70 Day Quality of Service Guarantee: "if the Client is dissatisfied with the quality of service provided during the first seventy (70) days of the relationship, every dollar of professional fee (excluding the non-refundable retainer) paid to that date will be refunded." The 1 Year Performance Satisfaction Guarantee: "If the final candidate fails to perform to the satisfaction of the client during the first 12 months from the date of employment, and the position becomes vacant (excluding death or voluntary separation of the incumbent) all professional fees will be waived for the sourcing of a replacement."
- Preliminary Position Specification: This is the first draft of the detailed specifications for the position which will be shared with qualified candidates. Information generally included in this document: position title; brief description of the client company; reporting relationship for the position; basic functions; specific duties required of the position; skills & competencies required; essential experience & performance history required of qualified candidates; and an overall summary of the engagement. The Position Specification and information relative to the client's present and future operation will serve as a guide in determining who is contacted during the course of the engagement. Note: This is a preliminary document which is to be reviewed, modified, and approved by the Client prior to being shared with potentially qualified candidates.
- Preliminary Client Synopsis: This is the first draft of the description of the client company / organization to be shared with qualified candidates. Note: this is a preliminary document which is to be reviewed, modified, and approved by the client before being shared with potentially qualified candidates.
- Preliminary Source List: This is an initial source list which outlines the target industries and organizations in which the most appropriate candidates are or have been employed, along with a preliminary detailing of the potential targets (i.e., company, position title, incumbent). Note: this list will be reviewed, modified and approved by the Client prior to any contact with potential candidates.
- Engagement Confirmation Letter: The letter of agreement between the Client and the firm outlining the following: the scope of the talent sourcing engagement; a brief description of the client organization, function, values and culture; the qualified candidate experience, credentials, skills and accomplishments specifications; the search methodology, and the engagement financial arrangements. - Deliverables: The Client will receive the following deliverables usually within five working days - at the latest.
